  • A Mobile Virtual Network Enabler is an entity which helps a Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO) to launch and provide mobile services to its end-users. It does so by providing the required infrastructure and the platform to support such mobile services.

  • The platform provided by an MVNE, in general, is a cloud-based hosted environment wherein multiple MVNOs can be supported by the MVNE. A MVNE can offer quite a few service options to a MVNO in the sense that it can offer only those hosted systems or components other than those already available in-house with the MVNO. For example, a MVNO might have their own CRM and few other BSS/OSS systems; in such a case, the MVNE can provide a solution excluding those systems already available with the MVNO.

  • A MVNE uses its Intelligent Network (IN) system to provide a variety of Value-Added Services (VAS) that a MVNO can offer its end users. In addition to the variety of VAS, the MVNO is also provided with the opportunity, by the MVNE, to customize its service offerings to its end-users. Another advantage provided by the MVNE to the MVNO is the significant saving of capital expenditure if it were to setup and maintain its own OSS/BSS systems. This allows MVNOs to focus solely on its brand, marketing and customer relationships while the MVNE handles the back-end operations.

  • A Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO) is a mobile services provider that does not have its own licensed frequency spectrum and strongly rely on the Mobile Network Operators (MNO) for the Radio Access Network (RAN) and Minutes of Use (MOU). A MVNO generally enters into an agreement with a MNO for using its radio network and MOU at wholesale rates. The MVNO, therefore, provides services to its end users through the RAN of the MNO. A MVNO can have its own network element
